PEOPLE in Weston-Super-Mare were urged to keep their doors and windows closed after a fire broke out last night.
Firefighters from Weston, Winscombe, Nailsea, Yatton, Portishead, Clevedon and Avonmouth, were called to Lower Kewstoke Road at 8.18pm.
“Locals were advised to stay inside and close windows. There were no casualties and no one was injured,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
“We worked with other emergency services and agencies including the Environment Agency and the police for traffic management of the local area.”
Crews used high volume pumps and water jets to control the fire, they added, with firefighters remaining on site this morning to make the scene safe.
Bath, Kingswood, Patchway and Hicksgate crews were later called to relieve the original teams.
“The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental ignition,” the spokesperson added.
