Sexey’s Sixth Form students celebrate impressive A Level results

YEAR 13 pupils at Sexey’s Sixth Form in Bruton have been praised for their “super” A Level results, with 97% of students gaining a place at their first or second choice university.

Sexey’s School also saw 43% of its cohort progressing to top Russell Group Universities compared to the national picture of 25%.

23% of the students are also progressing to an apprenticeship and/or employment with training, with 6% taking a gap year before progressing to university in September 2025.

Headteacher Helen Cullen has praised the students for their results.

“Congratulations to the Year 13 students and their teachers who have worked hard and deserve these super results,” she said.

“I am sure that the students will all be proud of their achievements, and I know that many of them will join me in thanking their staff for their inspiring lessons, hard work and support.

“This year we see the highest number of students accessing a place in their first or second choice university, this is due to the exceptional advice and guidance they receive from the team at Sexey’s Sixth Form.”

“Sexey’s Sixth Form is a small, caring Sixth Form that allows each young person to grow and develop, whilst seeking the care and support they need to achieve their potential. We ensure students leave us fully prepared for the next stage in their journey of lifelong learning.”

Some of the high performers include:

  • Jasmine Grant who studied A Levels in Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Jasmine achieved 168 UCAS points with A*A*A* and is progressing to Southampton University to study Chemistry.
  • Flo Mowat who studied A levels in English Literature, Psychology, Sport Science and also completed the EPQ. Flo achieved 180 UCAS Points with A*A*A and a B in EPQ and is progressing to University of Exeter to study Applied Psychology.
  • Daisy Grant who studied A Levels in Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Daisy achieved 160 UCAS points with A*A*A and is progressing to Southampton University to study Chemistry.
  • Alex Edwards who studied Chemistry, Psychology, English Literature and an EPQ and achieved 160 UCAS points with AAB and an A for EPQ and is progressing to Southampton University to study Psychology.
  • Ethan Nichols who studied A Levels in Maths, Art, Chemistry and Physics. Ethan achieved 168 UCAS points with ABBB and is progressing to Strathclyde University to study Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

A school spokesperson also recognised a number of students who made “exceptional progress” from the GCSE results to their A Level results.

These are:

  • Flo Mowat (A*A*A plus B EPQ)
  • Rishi O’Meara Rajagobal (A*AA)
  • Joe Taylor (AAB plus B EPQ)
  • John Pistorius (A*AA)
  • Jasmine Grant (A*A*A*)
  • Ethan Nichols (ABBB)
  • Hayden Bown (BBB)

The school also saw 100% A*-C in English Literature, French and Further Maths.

Other high performing subjects included: Chemistry (88% A*-C), Geography (83% A*-C), Art (75% A*-C) and Geology (75% A*-C).

Chrysta Garnett, CEO of the Quantock Education Trust said “We are incredibly proud of our students’ outstanding achievements this year.

“Their dedication and hard work, supported by the excellent staff team at Sexey’s School, have resulted in some fantastic A-level results in their Sixth Form.

“Well done to everyone and good luck to our students as they either continue their education or venture into the professional world.”
