THE popular Ham Hill Dog Show, which was due to take place this Sunday, August 11 has been postponed due to the extremely hot weather forecasted for this weekend.
The event will now take place on September 15.
The event organisers say they took the decision to postpone the 10th anniversary of its ever-popular dog show as the welfare of the dogs attending is their “top priority”.
The temperature in Somerset this weekend is expected to reach up to 27°C, according to the Met Office.
A Somerset Council spokesperson said: “We believe it is in their best interest to reschedule the show to a cooler date.
“The Ham Hill Dog Show will now take place on Sunday, September 15. Gates open at 10am and the show starts at 10.30am.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and support.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone on the new date and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and their furry friends.”
Set amidst the stunning backdrop of Ham Hill Country Park, popular with dog walkers from the local area and way beyond, Ham Hill’s fun dog show is a day to celebrate our wonderful canine companions and the joy they bring us.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes, pedigrees and crossbreeds are welcome to put their best paw forward. Whether your dog is full of waggyness, cuteness, energy, or even sometimes a little grumpiness, there will be something for them and you to enjoy.
Last year over 400 visitors visited the show, as whole families came with their beloved dogs to share a special day.
The show will raise funds for local charity The Friends of Ham Hill, a team of dedicated local people who support education, conservation, improvement, and community activities at Ham Hill.
