David Crew appointed new MD at Somerset Chamber of Commerce

DAVID Crew – a chief at Weston College – has been appointed as managing director of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce.

Currently growth and partnerships director at the college, Mr Crew will take on his new role at the beginning of September.

He takes over from Emma Rawlings, who stepped down from the role in May.

Mr Crew is not new to the chamber, as he is currently vice-chair of the Board of Directors, a Somerset Business Awards judge and a Chamber Business Partner in his role at Weston College.

He brings more than 20 years’ experience in the business, training and recruitment sectors, alongside a first-class degree in Business Management (Leadership Practice).

“I am delighted to be joining Somerset Chamber of Commerce and truly believe in its core values to support businesses to connect, influence and grow,” he said.

“It’s a really exciting time for Somerset Chamber as it continues delivering value for members through the benefits and events programme and continues to grow its member community.”

Alongside being a Somerset Chamber Board Director since 2021, Mr Crew has been responsible for delivering business growth, commercial partnerships and external stakeholder engagement in the skills and training industry at Weston College.

And he said building relationships would be key to his new role.

“As the county chamber, partnership working is key and I look forward to working collaboratively with all regional partners, including town chambers, to ensure Somerset’s businesses can thrive,” he added.

“I’m looking forward to working with the talented team and supportive board from September.”

Welcoming David’s appointment on behalf of the Chamber Board and team, chair, Emma Warren, said: “I wholeheartedly welcome David’s appointment as managing director of Somerset Chamber of Commerce.

“With his existing knowledge of Somerset Chamber coupled with his experience of addressing the challenges facing businesses in Somerset, I feel confident that he will lead us in delivering on our promise to members; acting as their voice and supporting them in achieving growth.”
