PUPILS at a school in Hambridge have been celebrating after it was awarded two national accreditations for its work to promote sport and eco-friendly activities.
Hambridge Primary School, part of Preston Primary Academy Trust, near Langport achieved the Gold School Games Mark following a “very successful” year of physical education within the school.
The School Games Mark is a government-led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.
The school says the many successful sports competitions the school took part in this year is due to the focus on including all pupils in sport.
While celebrating this award, the school received news that it had also achieved the Eco Schools Green Flag award with distinction this year.

Eco-Schools is the world’s largest schools’ environmental programme and pupils taking part can learn about everything from litter and biodiversity to energy and global citizenship.
The school says this award was achieved by their “committed” Eco Club which meets weekly to promote several initiatives on how to be environmentally friendly across the school.
The school also recently held a successful fundraising event – a ‘Crazy Hair Day’- which saw donations to the Onetree Foundation who advocate for sustainability around the world.
