Although the RMT union reached agreement with the rail companies today, the ASLEF union are still in dispute. This is going to effect train services over the course of the next week. SWR is advising customers that it will not be possible to travel to stations between Yeovil Junction and Exeter St David’s this Sunday, 3 December.
The train company add: “Unfortunately, as with other dates of industrial action, it will not be able to provide rail replacement bus services for services that have been cancelled due to strike action.”
As to next week, SWR have not been able to give a firm assessment of the impact of ASLEF action on services. They say: “From Friday 1 to Tuesday 5 and on Thursday 7 December, a normal service will operate with some cancellations due to an ASLEF overtime ban – customers should check their entire journey before travelling as drivers at other operators may be taking strike action”
However on Wednesday 6 December an extremely limited service will operate on a small number of lines. No services are expected through Somerset. That means no trains at Yeovil, Crewkerne and Templecombe. Customers are urged to only travel if absolutely necessary and check services before they set off for the station.
