Witness appeal – Mark

A home in the village of Mark, near Highbridge, was broken into and jewellery stolen. The burglary happened between 5.30pm and 6pm on Monday 3 January. The occupants had only left the house for 30 minutes. The thieves made off with a quantity of jewellery, including rings of great sentimental value, and a gold ingot.

A grey or silver saloon car – possibly an Audi – was seen parked on The Causeway with its hazard lights on. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw this vehicle and its occupants.

Police would also like to trace a man seen in the area. He’s described as white, of medium build, wearing light-coloured jeans. He also wore a black jacket and a cap and with his face covered with a snood.

Police believe this may not be an isolated incident. A team of officers is investigating more than a dozen break-ins in North Somerset and Sedgemoor area recently. In all cases jewellery was targeted.

Avon & Somerset Police would like anyone who witnessed the burglary to come forward. Did you see anyone acting suspiciously that day? Have you been offered jewellery or gold in suspicious circumstances? Do you have any other information which could help? Do you recognise the description of either the manor the car?
