Musgrove Hospital hit by Norovirus

New figures released yesterday suggest that Musgrove Park has suffered one of the worst impacts of Norovirus in the NHS, across the course of this winter (measured since 20th November). The hospital was one of the three worst in England (along with Weston Super Mare and Rotherham) for bed closures caused by the virus, also known as the winter vomiting bug.

Whilst detailed figures were not released, NHS England reported that 46,526 bed days had been lost since 20th December across the country and of these over 18,000 bed days had been lost in the ten worst hit hospitals.

Under the circumstances it is great credit to the medical staff at Musgrove that the hospital has been kept open and fully functioning.
