County lines dismantled

Avon & Somerset Police have announced this morning that they believe they have dismantled a county-lines style drugs operation in Yeovil. This follows information provided by the public and a two and a half year operation. Nine people have already been sentenced to a total of over 24 years in prison. A tenth will be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court in February.

The drug-dealing operation imported cocaine and heroin from London into Yeovil. The gang used the homes of drug users and other vulnerable people as bases to deal from.

Investigating officer DC Paul Cobb explained “This has been a lengthy and complex investigation into drug-dealing in Yeovil which would not have been possible without the help and support of the local community, who made the initial reports and provided us with further information and images. We’re pleased this county lines operation has been dismantled and we’ve been able to thwart the supply of class A drugs into Yeovil.”

The following people have been convicted:

Mohammed Yussuf, 20, of Hackney in London – jailed for three years and nine months

Jack Doherty, 21, of no fixed address but from London – jailed for five years and three months for conspiracy
