Bridgwater Tidal Barrier drop-in session

Sedgemoor District Council have just passed us a press release relating to a drop-in information session to let people know more about the proposed River Parrett Tidal Barrier.

The drop in session is on Thursday, March 10th between 2.00 and 7.00pm at Bridgwater Art Centre in Castle Street.

The Environment Agency and Sedgemoor District Council are working together on this project and are aiming to deliver the barrier by 2024. Of course the all important words are “subject to funding and approvals!”

Over the next 18 months, they, and a firm of consultants hired to review the options, will be looking at a range of potential locations, gate arrangements and operating regimes for the barrier.

The drop in session is therefore a good opportunity for residents to offer their thoughts and opinions at an early stage in the project. I’m sure this will be of interest to everyone in the Levels and indeed in the Parrett catchment.
