Taunton school closes as “trespassers” move on to field

A TAUNTON school has closed today after travellers set up on the site.

Pyrland School, in Cheddon Road, informed parents of the decision to shut on Wednesday morning after “trespassers arrived on site”.

“Unfortunately overnight, trespassers arrived on site and are currently on our school field. This will mean that we are unable to operate safely today,” a spokesperson said.

“All students must stay at home today. Work will be set on Bromcom for them to complete.

“We will be in contact later today to confirm the situation for tomorrow.”

A Year 10 Geography trip would be re-scheduled, they said, although a STEM trip went ahead, with students dropped off and picked up at the front of the school.

“We are sorry for this inconvenience,” the spokesperson added.
