Weston nursing home scoops top award for innovative approach to care

A SOMERSET care home has been recognised for innovative work with residents.

St Georges Nursing Home, near Weston-super-Mare, picked up the Best for Wellbeing gong at the Care Home Awards 2024.

Operated by Allegra Care, care home representatives collected the award at a glittering ceremony in London.

“This year’s awards were enhanced by the addition of some outstanding names in the care home sector as first-time entrants,” said Helen Warrilow, Commercial Director of the Care Home Awards.

“Entries reached record numbers, calling for a slightly larger group of judges for 2024.”

St Georges was recognised for its “unique, personable approach to resident wellbeing”.

Allegra Care CEO, Helen Jones, said she had made it her mission to transform the face of social care, implementing a Household Model of care, prioritising the “comfort and autonomy of residents, offering them the personal choices and flexibility that foster a true sense of community”.

“We are over the moon and incredibly proud that St Georges has taken top honours in this category,” she said.

“This recognition shines a light on the tireless dedication and genuine warmth of our amazing colleagues.

“At Allegra Care, we are committed to bringing nurturing, homelike care to all our local communities. This award reinforces that we are on the right path to making that vision a reality.”
